Fuel Recognised As A Mindful Employer

Following our longstanding commitment to employee wellbeing, Fuel has been officially recognised as a Mindful Employer.
Open to employers who demonstrate a commitment to supporting mental health at work, Mindful Employer accreditation is something we are incredibly proud of. We look forward to going from strength to strength as we continue to prioritise mindfulness and fuel growth for our team and our clients.
What Is Mindful Employer Accreditation?
Mindful Employer accreditation is awarded by Mindful Employer, a service set up in 2004 and delivered by mental health professionals as part of the Devon Partnership Trust. They aim to champion employers prioritising mindfulness and offer accreditation to companies sharing and willing to continue displaying these important values.
Obtaining Mindful Employer accreditation is a completely voluntary process for companies of any size in any sector. To achieve this status, employers can sign The Charter for Employers Positive About Mental Health to publicly declare their support for employee mental health and wellbeing – which is exactly what we have done here at Fuel.
By signing the Mindful Employer charter and obtaining the accreditation, we have undertaken a self-assessment of our current practices and agreed to uphold core values such as providing proactive support for managing mental health in the workplace. The accreditation period lasts for two years, after which we will reflect again on our approach to mindfulness and can renew our signature.
What Makes Fuel A Mindful Employer?
As we have mentioned, prioritising mindfulness is nothing new for Fuel. We have long been aware of the role emotional wellbeing plays in the productivity of our team and the quality of the work we produce.
Successful initiatives like the permanent introduction of a hybrid working policy post-COVID have supported our team in improving their emotional wellbeing by establishing a more effective work-life balance. All of our employees have also transitioned to a 4-day working week following a successful trial period, citing reduced stress levels and improvements to both their physical and mental health as a result of their extra rest day.
Well aware that our employee support should always evolve, we didn’t want to stop there. With the team well adjusted to the 4-day week, we were lucky enough to enjoy a fantastic mindfulness workshop hosted by friend of Fuel and local Mindfulness Coach Jocelyn Wood. Jocelyn shared some simple but effective tips and tricks for managing stress at work and practising mindfulness in our everyday lives.
In March, Managing Director Martyn King again joined forces with Jocelyn and wellbeing expert Carola Becker to host our first-ever Wellbeing – WTF (Without the Fluff) event, discussing the significance of wellbeing in the workplace and strategies other employers can use to promote mindfulness. Both have also featured on our ‘Fuelling Growth’ podcast, sharing their own tips and tricks for providing support to employees.
Martyn comments:
“Mindfulness is crucial at Fuel, not only in improving the productivity of our team but also in enhancing their wellbeing. After successfully adopting the 4-day working week and continuing to see great results from our hybrid working approach, it was only natural that we would look to solidify our prioritisation of mindfulness and are delighted to have been recognised as a Mindful Employer. We look forward to reaping the benefits of this accreditation on our mission to fuel growth for our clients.”
What Happens Next
Much like we are keen to support our clients through all stages of growth, the Mindful Employer charter is focused on helping employers provide meaningful mental health support no matter how far along this journey they may be. While we are proud of our existing and ongoing efforts to help our employees, we are therefore particularly excited to reap the benefits of signing the Charter and receive guidance from Mindful Employer as we look to support each other even further.
Fuel can now access members-only resources and training workshops provided by experts from the Mindful Employer service. We will also be displaying the Charter in our offices to remind our team of the support available to them should they ever need it.
Getting recognised as a Mindful Employer has only been possible thanks to the support and guidance we have received from our friends and connections, so we would be delighted if we could do the same for our clients and channel our experience to help your employee wellbeing strategies. If you have any questions about our approach to mindfulness, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
