Rejuvenating the PCC site

We’ve recently refreshed the Plymouth Chiropractic website and seen some great results in regards to increased clicks (website clicks rather than back clicks!) amongst other interesting metrics. Find out more about this project below:
The Challenge
We were commissioned to give a new lease of life to the Plymouth Chiropractic website, which had served them well for many years. Our objective was to reflect the professional services they offer as an award-winning clinic through their website.
Web development has progressed somewhat since the old site went live, so the changes were not only aesthetic but they also had to be functional from a user experience (UX) perspective and in-keeping with modern web standards (E.g: mobile friendly), while incorporating the best SEO practices.
‘Chiropractic care’ can be daunting to some people and our challenge was to make the site as friendly, welcoming and informative as possible. Many Chiropractic sites have a very clinical, stock feel to them, which is something we definitely wanted to avoid. The main reasons being; the clinic is a family run business with a very close team of employees who regularly receive positive feedback from their clients. Additionally, Chiropractic care is all about promoting good health and well-being not the stereotypical image of ‘old people in a sterile waiting room’!
The Solution
The design and development of the new website needed to reflect the professional services of Plymouth Chiropractic Clinic as an award-winning clinic. This was imperative as the website serves as their digital storefront (and we all know how important first impressions can be!).
We decided on a very clean and uncluttered design that is easy to navigate and enables users to find information quickly and digest it easily. As well as this, we wanted to make the site easy on the eye by using a soft colour palette, while being in-keeping with the Clinics branding.
To avoid the website having a clinical feel, we worked alongside Chris Plant to get new photos taken of the team and the clinic.
The Work
Here’s how the old website homepage looked:

The Results
Since going live with the new site, Plymouth Chiropractic Clinic have enjoyed the following successes on their website:
- 26.94% increase in sessions year on year (YOY)
- 20.56% increase in users YOY
- 19.65% increase in page views YOY
- 7.73% increase in average session duration YOY
Interestingly (or expectedly!), there have been some promising signs from mobile users on the new website:
- 48.48% increase in mobile users YOY
- 21.35% decrease in bounce rate from mobile users YOY
- 25.65% increase in average time spent on site from mobile users YOY
According to Google test my site, the website scored as ‘fair’ in the ‘Health’ sector, with a mobile loading time of 7 seconds. This coupled with the above stats is very promising as ‘more than half of overall web traffic comes from mobile’ (Google Analytics data, U.S., Q1 2016) and 70% of mobile network connections globally will occur at 3G or slower speeds through 2020 (Think with Google, 2016, Data Gallery).
We will continue to work with the client to improve their SEO stance in the coming months which should see this loading time decrease even more.
