My time at Fuel – Ella

My placement year at Fuel has been a year that I never expected to enjoy so much. As I’ve not worked a full time job before I didn’t know what it was going to be like, but the months have flown past and I have enjoyed every second of being here!
Within the Fuel team I have been able to grow as a person, with my confidence growing significantly and my work becoming more independent as I have progressed throughout the year.
The amount I have learnt whilst at Fuel has been way more than I ever expected which has included working alongside clients in helping them to achieve their objectives, which meant I took part in tasks that I had never done before.
One key task that I have been involved with is assisting with setting up the Fuel and Plymouth Mind partnership. This was a great project to be involved with and see results from the work that we had done. Another key project that I was thrilled to get involved with was helping to manage an account for a client by visiting their office and working with them on their marketing objectives.
A real learning curve from working at Fuel was understanding client relationships. The reason for this is that it’s something you are never going to be able to learn at University, clients are not all the same and working here you are able to learn ways in which to communicate and collaborate with each client.
From doing a placement at Fuel Communications I have been able to put aspects of my University course into perspective, while helping me to understand marketing in a real life environment.
Before starting my placement I had an idea of what was going to be involved, but as I have progressed through the year I came to learn that there is a lot more to marketing than what you learn at University. For this reason, I would without a doubt recommend doing a placement year at Fuel Communications!
