Work Experience Blog – Lucy
I have recently completed a valuable week’s work experience at Fuel Communications, where I learnt some very important skills that I will continue to use for some time, from putting together a business strategy for various companies to designing e-newsletters or even learning the ropes of a meeting!
My first task of the week was to research into mental health charities in Plymouth, one of which was Mind Plymouth, an independently funded charity. From this, I was able to devise a ‘brand health check’ to look at how the charity sees itself, who is the target audience and how they were going to target them.
Later on in the week I had the privilege to meet with the CEO and operations manager of Mind Plymouth, where in a meeting, joined by Martyn and Ella, we collectively discussed the charity’s movements and future plans that Fuel could potentially help them succeed.
To broaden the skills I would take from the business I was set the role of designing a template e-newsletter format for the Devon Junior and Minor League (DJM). The challenge was to incorporate the leagues house colours, fonts and also the style of their website I was shown. I created the e-newsletter using an online platform, with some guidance and support from the team. (I later found out they really liked what I created which was very rewarding).
During the week I also attended various meetings at a law firm, I found the process exciting and interesting as we were exploring ideas.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Fuel Communications, the experience has been amazing!
