The brief
Socially, they faced enormous challenges with over 20,000 people on the NHS waiting list; around 50% of the population in Cornwall and The Isles of Scilly not registered with a dentist; and tooth decay the number one cause of hospitalisation for 5-9 year olds.
Still, they were starting out on a mission to tackle those social issues. As an employee-owned Community Interest Company, this new organisation knew what it wanted to be, it just needed our help to find its identity and communicate its purpose.
In the beginning, our brief was to create a new name and brand identity and communicate it as their outsourced marketing agency. However, the briefs kept on coming and we’re proud to say they keep coming in thick and fast.
We have recently put the finishing touches to an enhanced brand strategy and website. Soon we’ll be turning our attention to attracting new patients through Smile Together’s generous ‘Children Go Free’ offer and supporting a strategic project to help tackle oral health inequality.
The work
Typically, the Smile Together name was a collaborative effort which really captured who they are and after a series of workshops together with feedback from internal and external stakeholders we surgically distilled their positioning down to ‘Healthier, happier communities’.
Further strategic work sees our Managing Director Martyn King sit on Smile Together’s Impact Steering Group which ensures that social and environmental impact is at the heart of everything they do.
More tactically we regularly deliver compelling patient campaigns; recruitment campaigns; oral health campaigns (we’ve supported their Brighter Smiles campaign since 2017); graphic design support; video and animated content; and search engine optimisation.
The results
“Fuel’s support for us has been immense at every level. The team has completely bought into our culture which shines through in their consistently outstanding work for us. They are a highly valued partner who we really enjoy working with.”
Tracy Wilson, Head of Marketing & Communications, Smile Together
The best measurement of results is our ability to help Smile Together tackle oral health inequality. Quite simply, people in Cornwall and The Isles of Scilly get more support from Smile Together than ever. However, it is a huge mission and covid has only made things more challenging so we are determined to continue supporting Smile Together’s outstanding commitment to healthier, happier communities.
